About the Artwork 

Print & Object is honored to announce the release of Portals, a new series of sculptural works by artist Jessica Harvey.

A portal is imbued with contradictions and potentiality. It is both an ending and a beginning; a liminal moment between what is presently perceivable and what is to come. A rupture in the reliability of place, a portal symbolizes transcendent possibility.

In Portals, Harvey’s illuminated sculptures are conduits that express and absorb, reaching out into our space with light while drawing inward and holding the unseen vastness waiting to be breached. Partially formed with sand collected from Lake Michigan, each portal is imbued with a grounding connection to Harvey’s artistic relationship with the Midwest landscape. Harvey’s practice sifts through public and private histories to consider whose narratives rise above, the interpretation of experience, and the friction of bodies, nature, and place.  

This new series softens the hard lines of reality, offering a moment for imaginative reflection on what lies just beyond the glass. Print & Object is proud to present Portals exclusively on our platform.

A portion of all proceeds will be donations to artists affected by the LA fires (Mutual Aid Index for L.A. Arts Community) and Organized Communities Against Deportation.

About the Artist

Jessica Harvey is an artist and writer exploring the fractures of bodies, place, and history. She was awarded a Fulbright Grant to Iceland and has attended residencies at ACRE, Ox Bow, The Luminary, Wassaic, MASS MoCA, Anderson Ranch, LATITUDE, Byrdcliffe, Sala Diaz, Nordic Art Center Dale, Stove Works, and Vermont Studio Center. Her work has been exhibited at Kunsthall Trondheim (Trondheim, NO), The Franklin (Chicago, IL), Coop Gallery (Nashville, TN), Gilcrease Museum (Tulsa, OK), Camayuhs (Atlanta, GA), Heaven Gallery (Chicago, IL), The Luminary (St. Louis, MO), Good Weather (Little Rock, AR and Chicago, IL), Sala Diaz (San Antonio, TX), and ACRE Projects (Chicago, IL). She has participated in fellowships with the Winterthur Museum, gener8or Arts, and The Tulsa Center for the Humanities at the University of Tulsa. Her chapbook was published with Walls Divide Press.
