ABOUT THE ARTWORK

E.C. Miller’s artwork contemplates the influences of consumer culture on their personal identity and mental health. By incorporating both digital and hand-applied techniques, E.C. interweaves images and collected ephemera to depict a psychological space triggered while under the influence of social media and the effects of late-stage capitalism.

Digital layering and visual distortion blend together personal snapshots, screen recordings, and magazine cutouts with illustrative characters, emotive faces, decaying nature, colorful hearts, and metallic teardrops– cartoonish motifs of life and death that reveal a psychedelic emotional landscape, invoking desires derived from early memories growing up as a genderqueer person in America during a post-internet era.
